DESCRIPTION:
Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn, "REGULATOR No. 63", large walnut hanging wall clock, weight driven, 8 day in an attractive case with dentil molding along cornice and a pediment top with finely carved trim. From the Bob Wasserman collection, c1887.
CONDITION:
there are some very minor nicks and scrapes to the case and marks in the bottom from a falling weight, but otherwise, this clock is in excellent original condition. This very clock is pictured in Tran Ly's book on Seth Thomas, 3rd Edition, page 312, figure 983, and with a current price guide of $22,500. The case retains fine original finish with slight crazing that has been rubbed and nicely waxed. Dial, hands, weight, pendulum and all case hardware are original, and the clock is in good running order. Clock is pictured here in the Wasserman library, against fleur-de-lis wall paper. For comparison, we sold an oak version of this model in April, 2001, lot 477 for $19,800. Ht 76"
